Frequently asked questions

You give us your site's URL and we fetch the live page, looking for scripts, cookies, and third-party services (analytics, payments, chat widgets, ad pixels, and similar). You review what we found before generating anything, and can add or remove services we might have missed. If you'd rather not scan a live site, you can use the questionnaire instead. It asks the same questions manually.

Our scanner reads a site's HTML and the scripts that load with it. Trackers or services loaded dynamically after the page finishes loading (common on some JavaScript-heavy sites) may not always be caught. We flag this on the review screen so you know to double-check, and you can always add anything we missed manually before generating.

No. Generated documents are a starting point produced by an AI system based on the information you provide, not a substitute for review by a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction. We don't guarantee that any generated document satisfies the legal requirements applicable to your specific business, and you'll be asked to acknowledge this before every generation. We built Privatly specifically to avoid inventing specifics it wasn't told. It won't state a data retention period, name a security certification, or claim a legal mechanism (like Standard Contractual Clauses) unless you actually told us that's true. Where information wasn't provided, the document uses general language instead of guessing. You should still review the output and correct anything that doesn't accurately describe your business before publishing it.

Privacy Policy and Terms of Service generation are both available on Starter and Pro. More document types (Cookie Policy, NDA, and others) are on our roadmap.

Starter covers core compliance frameworks (CCPA, GDPR, UK GDPR) and both Privacy Policy and Terms of Service generation. Pro adds all compliance frameworks (including HIPAA, COPPA, PIPEDA, and LGPD), no disclaimer notice on generated documents, priority support, and a higher monthly generation limit. You'll see an upgrade prompt the next time you try to generate. Your limit resets at the start of each calendar month. Nothing you've already generated is affected: you can still view, copy, and download past documents regardless of your current usage.

Yes. Manage your subscription from the Account page, which takes you to a secure billing portal where you can cancel at any time. Canceling stops future billing; you keep access to your plan's features until the end of the billing period you already paid for.

Fees are generally non-refundable, though we'll consider exceptions where required by law or at our discretion. Reach out and we're happy to talk it through.

No. The free plan lets you generate a locked preview of a privacy policy with no card required, so you can see what the output looks like before paying for anything.

No. The information you submit is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) only to generate your document, and it isn't used to train models. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of how your data is handled and which third parties we work with.

Your account and generated documents remain accessible if you cancel but don't delete your account. You're just back on the free tier's limits. If you delete your account entirely, we delete your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain it by law.

You do. Documents generated for your business are yours to use, publish, and modify. We don't claim ownership of them or the business information you submit. See our Terms of Service for the full ownership terms.
